Welcome to The Latent Book Club
What is The Latent Book Club?
Latent [ leyt-nt ] adjective
(of a quality or state) existing but not yet developed or manifest; hidden or concealed.
The Latent Book Club throws our spotlight on the best books that lurk in the shadows, that you have probably missed.
We then wring the hidden meaning from them: in our analysis, in our interpretation, than one might at the first pass.
In this way we expose what is concealed: by finding the esoteric, and exposing its secrets.
As Martin Amis admonishes his readers in Inside Story:
The world you see out there is ulterior: it is other than what is obvious or admitted. So never take a single speck of it for granted.
This is our quest to find what is ulterior.
This is the Latent Book Club.
Our once a fortnight newsletter brings these distilled insights, including novel takes, reviews, and curated recommendations to enhance your reading directly to your inbox.
Our inspirations include the Australian Book Review and the London Review of Books.
